Brand Announces New Fire and Water Resistant Cabinet
ioSafe announced the 1520+ NAS for mission critical installations where there is a high risk of fire or flood. The solution offers the highest level of data protection in the event of an emergency.
The device is based on the Gemini Lake Refresh generation Intel Celeron J4125 processor. The chip contains four non-multithreading cores clocked at 2.0GHz (dynamically boosted to 2.7GHz). The amount of DDR3L RAM is 8 GB. Two 120 mm fans are responsible for cooling. Powered by a NAS managed by Synology DSM.
Storage supports five SFF or LFF SATA 3.0 drives. The maximum network is 70TB using 14TB hard drives. Additional storage modules can be added to expand capacity by up to 210TB. There are also two M.2 slots for caching NVMe SSDs.
The novelty is said to resist fire for half an hour at temperatures up to 840 °C (ASTM E-119). In addition, the device is not afraid to dive under water, including salt water, to a depth of 3 m for 72 hours (IP68 protection). The NAS has a metal Kensington Lock slot. Also, you can purchase a set to secure the storage to the floor.
The storage is equipped with four 1GbE ports, two USB 3.0 Type A connectors, and two eSATA ports for connecting expansion modules. Dimensions are 406 × 483 × 534 mm, weight – approximately 29 kg without drivers installed. Talks about compatibility with Windows, macOS and Linux. The price of the ioSafe 1520+ NAS ranges from $2,400 (without drives) to $12,000 (with 70 TB drives). Warranty is 2 years and includes data recovery services.
