DELL

The brand's laptops will have a ''Lego concept'' in the future

Dell unveiled a concept laptop of the future that is 50% greener to manufacture than current laptops. According to the manufacturer, this is achieved through a series of new design solutions. Firstly, its use reduces the direct negative impact on the environment and secondly, it increases the serviceability of the laptop, the interchangeability of its components and, as a result, extends the life cycle of the system.

At the moment, the Concept Luna is not a complete product. It's more Dell's vision of what laptops can become in the foreseeable future, if they borrow the ideas from the presented concept. The platform was developed in collaboration with Intel.

The main features of Concept Luna are:

-A motherboard 75% smaller than a conventional laptop and uses 20% less materials for production, which halve the manufacturing carbon footprint compared to today's laptops;

-A minimum of internal connectors for connecting components;

-The motherboard is located on the screen portion of the laptop and is separate from the battery, which is located under the keyboard, which increases the efficiency of passive cooling of components due to a larger heat dissipation area;

-Support for LFP batteries with double life cycle compared to current solutions;

-The use of aluminum as a housing material that can be recycled at the end of the system's useful life; easy access to the laptop's internal components – just four screws need to be removed. The pad with the touchpad is easy to disassemble as no adhesive components are used here;

The laptop's battery, screen, and other components are easy to disassemble and replace, and if necessary, use them in another similar system.

The company says it will take about 1.5 hours to completely disassemble the laptop.
