Company offers to some customers the AppleCare + Advanced Service Plan
Apple has given customers facing expensive smartphone or computer repairs a second chance to purchase an AppleCare + Advanced Service Plan for their device.
In an internal memo obtained by MacRumors, Apple stated that customers whose iPhone or Mac was repaired at an Apple Store or an authorized service center are now eligible to purchase an AppleCare + Extended Warranty for the device if it was purchased less than one year and after that, the repairs passed inspection and diagnosis.
For customers who are unsure if their iPhone has been repaired by an Authorized Service Provider, in iOS 15.2 Apple will add a Parts and Service History feature to see if the battery and monitor are genuine Apple parts. IOS 15.2 is expected to be released next week.
Apple customers continue to pay full payment for any non-warranty repairs performed prior to purchasing AppleCare +. However, in the event that a user, for example, breaks the screen of an iPhone purchased less than a year ago and contacts an authorized service center for a paid replacement, after repair, he will be offered the purchase of AppleCare + so any repairs would not be so expensive.
The innovation is expected to boost Apple's services revenue, which hit a record $18.27 billion in the fourth quarter. The new policy applies to all countries and regions where AppleCare + is available.
