Scientists create wearables capable of preventing overdoses

Researchers at the University of Washington (USA) announced the development of a wearable device that injects Narcan into the user in case of an overdose.

Narcan is a substance is a substance used in the case of an overdose of opioids, which are normally applied through the nose.

The creation is described by the scientific publication Scientific Reports and works similarly to an insulin pump. Upon detecting signs of an overdose, she automatically delivers the medication into the bloodstream.

One of the scientists' goals is to improve the accuracy of the equipment's operation. One of them is for the device to send a message to the user and only apply Narcan if he doesn't respond.
