VIVO

Brand enhances sensor for taking pictures in the dark

Chinese company Vivo, one of the world's largest suppliers of smartphones, has announced a new image sensor for cameras that integrate with mobile devices.
We are talking about a sensor made with RGBW technology (Red, Green, Blue, White). Traditional sensors use RGB cells with three types of light-sensitive elements - red, green and blue, which are covered with appropriate light filters. RGBW products add white photodiodes without filters. This technology reduces the loss of light and improves the quality of the images generated.
The new Vivo increases sensitivity by 160% compared to traditional sensors. In addition, the luminous flux increases significantly. All of this offers the opportunity to significantly improve the results of photography in various conditions, especially when lighting is poor.
Unfortunately, Vivo has not yet revealed other specifications for its advanced sensor. But it is noted that the first smartphones equipped with cameras based on this product will be launched closer to the middle of next year.
