The global smartphone market slumps ... Samsung, Huawei and Apple still sell more

The pandemic hit the global smartphone market hard in the second quarter of this year, as evidenced by Gartner statistics released today: shipments fell 20.4% year on year.
From April to June inclusive, 294.7 million smart cell devices were sold globally. For comparison: a year earlier, shipments were equal to approximately 370.3 million units.
According to the results of the last quarter, Samsung started to lead with an 18.6% share. But smartphone sales by the South Korean giant fell 27.1% from the second quarter of 2019.
China's Huawei is slightly behind, with a result of 18.4%: sales in annual terms decreased by 6.8%. Apple closes the top three with 13.0% of the world market: shipments of iPhone devices in the year decreased by 0.4%.



Then come the Chinese Xiaomi and OPPO, which control 8.9% and 8.0% of the market, respectively. Device sales by these companies decreased by 21.5% and 15.9%.
Thus, the five named developers control two thirds of the global smartphone market. The total participation of the other companies was 33.2%.
