Russian technology company presents compact satellite communication station

State Corporation Rostec announces the development of the most compact domestic satellite communication station. The solution, called R-444-NM, was presented at the International Military-Technical Forum of the Army-2020.
The novelty is the idea of the Scientific and Production Company (NPP) "Radiosvyaz", which is part of the holding company "Ruselectronics" of the state-owned company Rostec. It is argued that in terms of weight and size characteristics, the complex is one and a half times superior to existing analogues. It was possible to achieve such a significant reduction in size and weight, among other things, due to the use of a phased array antenna (PAR).
The station consists of a control panel built into the device and a compact, flat monobloc, including an antenna module and a modem. The rechargeable power supply provides unattended operation in duplex mode for four hours. All the equipment fits in a backpack, and the weight of the kit does not exceed 7.5 kg.

The system establishes a connection with satellites in geostationary orbit. Thanks to this, it is possible to organize a mobile network for special and civil purposes outside the telecommunications infrastructure. The complex allows the transmission of voice, digital and text messages.
The time to get the R-444-NM station ready for operation is just about a minute. Up to 255 users can connect to the network in formation, the data transfer rate between subscribers is up to 64 Kbps.
