REALME

New model: 90 Hz display and a MediaTek Dimensity 720 starting at US$215

Realme has now launched its latest device, the Realme V5. The Realme V5 offers a slew of features including five cameras in total, a MediaTek Dimensity 720, and a 90 Hz display. All of that can be had for just over US$200.
Realme has now launched its latest smartphone in China—the Realme V5. The Realme V5 is an attempt to capture more of the mid-range market from competitors like Redmi and Huawei, and does so by offering excellent features at an attractive price point.
Starting off, the Realme V5 sports a 6.5-inch FHD+ display. It's an LCD panel with a 90 Hz refresh rate, which places it alongside offerings like the Huawei Enjoy 20 Plus and the Redmi K30 5G. Under the hood is a MediaTek Dimensity 720, with 128 GB of UFS 2.1 storage coming as standard. There are, however, options of 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM.
At the rear of the Realme V5 is a quad camera setup. It's essentially two actual cameras, really: a 48 MP main snapper, an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2 MP depth sensor, and a 2 MP monochrome sensor. At the front is a 16 MP selfie camera. Other features include a 5000 mAh battery, 30 W fast-charging, USB Type-C, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader.
The Realme V5 goes on sale on August 7. The 6/128 GB unit will retail for CNY 1,399 (US$215), while the 8/128 GB model will cost CNY 1,899 (US$270). That's a hefty premium for an extra 2 GB of RAM, we must say.
