MICROSOFT

Family Safety: child-friendly app

Microsoft announced the launch of a new application called Family Safety, designed to keep family members safe in the digital and real world. This product will help protect children from inappropriate content, control time spent playing games, receive data on the location of family members, etc. Family Safety is now available for download on Android and iOS devices.
One of the functions of the app is to provide weekly reports delivered by email and contain information about a child's digital activity. Thanks to them, parents will see how long the child has been using the device, what websites he has visited, what queries he has made on search engines, etc.
Another interesting feature of Family Safety is the ability to limit the time you use applications and games. As in the current conditions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, children recently had to study remotely, started spending much more time on their device screens. The ability to restrict access to non-school-related apps and games will help children focus on learning without being distracted by strange games and content.
Parents will be able to customize the list of allowed and prohibited websites for a child to view using the filters built into the app. This will prevent children from viewing inappropriate content while surfing the web. The feature works on Microsoft Edge on Windows, Xbox and Android.
Supports the ability to customize notifications that will be sent to parents when their children purchase something from the Microsoft Store. If necessary, you can set up a parent's mandatory purchase confirmation.
Family Safety supports the function of locating each member of the family. You will be able to see the last known location on the map, in addition to saving the places most visited by your family members.
The developers also added a new function to lock and unlock applications, updated the Family Safety design to improve accessibility and increase inclusion, additional time intervals on the screen, etc. The application continues to evolve and will receive useful new features in the future.
