Israeli invention will allow customers to eat in restaurants with mask " Pac-Man"
Israeli inventors have developed a Coronavirus protection mask with a remotely controlled mouth that will allow restaurant customers to eat without removing it, which they say can make a visit to a restaurant less risky.
By tightening a lever, just as a cyclist operates a bicycle brake, a slit is opened on the front of the mask so that food can pass through.
The process can get tricky if it involves foods like ice cream or sauces, but solid pieces can be snapped up in an instant, more or less like the character of the classic Pac-Man video games would.
"The mask can be opened mechanically by a remote control or automatically, when the fork approaches the mouth," said Asaf Gitelis, vice president of Avtipus Patents and Inventions, on Monday as he demonstrated his device in the company's office near Tel Aviv.
"So you can eat, enjoy, drink and you take off the fork and the hole closes, so you are protected from the virus just like the people who are with you."
The company announced that it plans to start manufacturing the masks in the coming months and has already submitted a patent for the device. The mask can be sold at a price between 0.85 and 2.85 dollars above the price of simple medical masks sold in Israel.
