STREAMING

Johnny Depp's new film will be released direct in streaming

Indie studio Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired the rights to display Johnny Depp's new film, " Waiting for the Barbarians”, to release it in streaming in the US.
Originally planned for cinemas, the feature will be released on digital platforms for video on Demand (VOD). The same should be repeated in other countries, due to the pandemic of covid-19.
Directed by award-winning Colombian filmmaker Ciro Guerra ("the embrace of the Serpent"), the film premiered at the Venice Film Festival last year, but did not impress critics, reaching only 50% approval on Rotten Tomatoes, despite the imposing cast.
The first English-spoken War feature, "Waiting for the Barbarians" also features actors Robert Pattinson ("Good Behavior“), Mark Rylance (”Bridge Of Spies“), Ghana Bayarsaikhan (”Intelligence“) and Greta Scacchi (”the Terror").
Rylance plays a magistrate in a secluded village on the limits of a large empire, who waits for an easy retirement until the arrival of a colonel (played by Depp), whose task is to report the activities of the “Barbarians” and the security situation on the border. But the Colonel's cruel interrogations lead the magistrate to question his loyalty to the Empire.
There is still no forecast for the launch.
