Launch of another batch of Starlink satellites postponed due to tropical depression
It became known that SpaceX postponed the launch of the Starlink group of satellites on the Internet using the Falcon booster from May 9 to 19 due to the so-called tropical Depression-the cyclone, which in the worst case will lead to a hurricane. Information about this was published on SpaceX's Twitter account.
It is noteworthy that the launch into space of the Starlink internet satellites has already been postponed due to the delay in the launch of the X-37B military bus and is expected to take place on May 18. The previous mission to launch internet satellites into space was carried out on April 22.
"Due to the tropical depression that is emerging on the southeastern coast of the United States, we plan to launch Starlink satellites on May 19 at 03:10 EDT. The SpaceX team will continue to monitor the weather conditions of the launch and landing, ” the company said in a statement released on Twitter. Recall that the Starlink project involves the formation of a satellite network that will be able to provide the inhabitants of the planet with broadband Internet access. The implementation of this project began in 2018 and so far SpaceX has managed to conduct several successful launches of launch vehicles, thanks to which some of the satellites have already been launched into space.
In general, the company intends to form a satellite network, which will include about 12,000 vehicles, and about 30,000 additional satellites will be placed in different orbits, with altitudes from 320 to 580 km. According to SpaceX, the project will require an investment of $10 billion, but experts consider this value underestimated.
