Chinese Didi plans to reach 100 million runs per day by 2022
Beijing (Reuters) - Didi Chuxing, China's largest app-based urban transport company, plans to serve 100 million runs per day and have 800 million monthly active users worldwide by 2022, chief executive Cheng Wei said.
The company will continue to expand mobility services, including hitchhiking and bike sharing, while developing businesses such as autonomous steering operations and fleet management with automakers.
Scheduled trips up to 2022 include travel sharing or food delivery services, among others.
Didi did not report the current level of runs per day, but in 2019 it said it expected domestic route-sharing trips, which account for the bulk of its business, to reach 37 million on September 30, before China's National Day holiday.
Didi wants to reach 8% in China's mobility market, Cheng said, explaining the company's three-year strategy. Globally, the company is expanding its business in Japan, Australia and Latin America. In Brazil, the company owns 99.
The bike-sharing business, Didi Bike, raised more than $1 billion in its latest fundraising, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters.
The coronavirus pandemic affected the demand for displacements in the face of government-imposed quarantines. Uber suspended on the eve forecast of gross reserves, an index that measures number of races, for 2020 and said it expects an accounting low of up to 2.2 billion dollars due to the pandemic.
