T-Series will release up to ten movies directly on Netflix

T-Series is reportedly negotiating with Netflix India to release eight to ten movies on the platform. With movie theaters remaining shut due to the nationwide lockdown measures, a lot of studios are moving their cinema releases to video streaming platforms.
Despite introducing several measures to woo the Indian audience, Netflix's market share is a tad disappointing. Its prohibitive price, combined with a lack of regional content, drives a lot of users towards alternatives such as Amazon Prime Video and Hotstar Disney+. Netflix is now reportedly working with T-Series (of the T-Series vs. PewDiePie fame) to bring more Indian movies to the platform.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, a lot of movie studios are moving their releases to online video streaming platforms. Mid-Day reports that T-Series plans to release eight to ten movies on Netflix. Both parties are in 'advanced stages' of negotiations and are reportedly waiting for a green signal from the movies' producers.
It'll be interesting to see how many of these movies make their way to Netflix. A lot of movie studios and theater owners would prefer a physical release over digital because of the vastly superior experience offered by a movie theater. We should know more about the fate of movie theaters and if they'll be allowed to operate at full capacity once the nationwide lockdown measures end of May 3rd.
