The Mandalorian is renewed for season 3
“The Mandalorian”, the first live-action series in the “Star Wars” universe, has been renewed for season 3. According to Variety magazine, pre-production of the third year of the Disney + streaming platform series has already begun, months before the second year's premiere.
This had already happened between the 1st and the 2nd season, although the official confirmation of the previous renewal took time to become official.
According to Variety sources, creator Jon Favreau has been writing the third year "for some time", and Lucasfilm's art department has started developing visual concepts for the new episodes in recent weeks.
The flagship of the Disney + platform, “The Mandalorian” was one of the few series that managed to finish filming before the new coronavirus pandemic worsened. Since then, it has been reported that actors Rosario Dawson (“Luke Cage”) and Michael Biehn (“Terminator”) will appear among the second-year cast.
In addition, the attraction will also have the company of a documentary series about its backstage. Entitled "Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian", the program will be a great "making of" of eight chapters, full of interviews with cast and crew, in addition to bringing unpublished scenes, with a presentation by filmmaker Jon Favreau, creator of "The Mandalorian".
The series takes place between the films “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi” (1983) and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (2015), and follows the adventures of the title character (played by Pedro Pascal), a hunter of rewards that decides to challenge former members of the Empire to save “the child”, a character that fans have dubbed “Baby Yoda” and that has become a phenomenon of popular consumption.
The premiere of the 2nd season is scheduled for October. But Disney + faces a great lack of new material due to the interruption of production as a precaution against the new coronavirus.
