One possible solution to improve connection speed is to change your provider'S default DNS to Google public servers for free. The configuration is quite simple and can be done even by novice users.
What is DNS
On the internet, sites are registered under an IP number, which is the real address of this page on the web. Because IPs are hard-to-remember numbers, each IP is associated with a domain name, such as “www.seleções.com". the role of DNS is to translate the IP numbers to these friendly addresses.

How to change DNS in macOS
Step 1. Enter the Apple menu (Apple icon) and click "System Preferences".
Step 2. Go to "network" and click on your slow connection.
