Anti-5G 'fever' spreads to Netherlands with telecommunications towers being set on fire
Just as happened recently in the UK, 5G transmission towers in the Netherlands are now being damaged.
The Netherlands has suffered a series of arson attacks in the last fortnight, the last occurring on Friday (10), in the city of Groningen, in the north of the country, according to a report by the newspaper Telegraaf, which quotes Rob Bongelaar, director of the Monet Foundation, an industrial group in charge of installing cell towers in the country.
According to Bongelaar, it is the radical protesters who opposed the launch of 5G technology that are behind the acts of vandalism.
Ultra-fast cellular connections "are desperately needed for hospitals and nursing homes, for example, and there are those who deliberately set fire to radio towers, "he complained, adding that Dutch mobile service providers continue to do their best to keep their networks up and running"at this difficult time."
Extremist protests
The acts of sabotage have caught the attention of the National Counterterrorism and Security Coordinator (NCTV), who also believes that opposition to 5G technology is a possible cause.
"This is a worrying development," the agency acknowledged. While anti-5G sentiment is not "new", it has never before led to " extremist protests like sabotage and arson."
As in some other European countries, Dutch activists seem to believe that 5G antennas emit radiation, thus provoking incurable diseases.
At the end of March, the UK suffered attacks on telecommunications towers, with conspirators insisting there was a link between the launch of 5G and the spread of COVID-19.
