Skechers will have a technical rubber shoe soles from Goodyear
Skechers joined Goodyear to produce a shoe-run soled collection made by the tyre manufacturer. Initially, three types of footwear will have soles made with the rubber technology of the tyre brand. The idea, however, is to expand the collection to the casual line, track and work shoes, as well as children's shoes.
According to Skechers, the goal of the partnership is to improve the grip, stability and durability of Brand shoes, founded in California (USA) in 1992 and currently the third largest brand of sports shoes in the United States. On the side of also American Goodyear, the brand rubber technology that will be used in tennis contains a special polymer that includes sustainable soybean oil, a biological-based renewable material used in some of the company's most performing tire models. "This collaboration is an example of two reliable brands coming together to create a high-tech product that will really benefit our consumer. Through this effort, selected products will contain the solado Goodyear Performance, offering this extra touch where it is most needed, either improving stability in a race, giving more grip on slippery surfaces in the workplace, or a longer life in children's playground," said Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers.
"Goodyear has always worked to create innovative products that provide consumers with high performance tires. Now, we will use this same ingenuity to allow consumers to use high performance shoes, " said Christian Jurado, global director of licensed products at Goodyear.
This is not the first time that a brand specializing in tennis has joined a tire manufacturer for the production of rubber that makes up the shoe soles. Since 2007, German company Adidas has partnered with German Continental tires with the same goal.
