Patent reveals company may be working on LED-illuminated Apple logo for future iPhones

The Apple logo at the back of its products, especially on the iPhones have come to mean so much to core Apple fans. There are those who even would love to see the logo perform the added function of an LED-illuminated notification light and not just a brand identity. That feature may soon appear on future iPhones as a recent Apple patent suggests.
The patent was originally filed on September 18th, 2018 before the US Patent and Trademark Office (U.S.PTO). The patent filing is titled “Electronic Devices With Adjustable Decoration”. The description talks about the use of a logo or other decoration on the casing of a phone to notify the user of an incoming call or SMS as well as alert to a calendar reminder, and even the activation of the camera. The patent describes how this would be achieved using sensors or input/output devices to “detect events.” There will be circuitry embedded inside that would control the illuminating logo.

The patent also suggests the LED may come in several colours with sWe can’t say if this would be implemented in next year’s iPhone 12 but whenever it is, Apple will not be the first to do such on a smartphone even though the company’s MacBook had such feature in the past. Motorola recently implemented a notification LED light on the logo of the Motorola One Zoom. However, except for the funky looks it brings to the logo, the efficiency may be called to question as you’ll only notice the blinking light when the phone is kept with the back facing upwards, something that doesn’t happen so often.eparate colours for different notification types.
