Chinese reveals why 'adopted' sex dolls
"I bet all men would rather spend time with dolls," if they were able to move and talk like humans, believes a Chinese man who has a collection of sex dolls.
More and more people in the four corners of the world are clinging to artificial friends to relieve loneliness. Zhenguo Yu, a businessman in a small town in southeastern China, seems to be one of them. Divorced, Yu shares the house with his teenage son and 11 sex dolls.
"Whenever I order custom-made dresses for them, dressmakers think I'm kidding, because the measurements are far from the usual human dimensions," Yu says in an interview with the Quartz news agency. "No one has such big breasts and such a small waist," he adds.
Zhenguo Yu's reputation among other sex doll owners in China is one reason he has such a large collection. Some acquaintances asked him to "adopt" his dolls before they got married, the agency explains.
It seems that now, years after "his breakup with a real woman," Zhenguo Yu is happy surrounded by sex dolls.
"If dolls could talk and move like human beings, I bet all men would rather spend time with dolls," said the Chinese, estimating that the number of sex doll owners in China is "six digits."
Earlier in August, a China-based company announced the launch of a new sex robot capable of providing the owner with a wide range of services.
Not everyone is fascinated by the trend and more than 230,000 people in South Korea recently signed a petition calling for a ban on the importation of life-size dolls, claiming that this could lead to an increase in sex crimes.
