This company has just introduced its latest patent for the next generation of this technology. It believes that the new intellectual property will help to make products that will be more suited to more consumers in the future.
This may help the Vuzix devices of the future look and feel more like normal, everyday glasses, while still packing the advanced tech necessary for improved AR. In other words, the patent may allow for the use of the same materials with which modern-day glasses are made, as opposed to slightly bulky plastic as they are now. Vuzix may also be able to make a greater range of styles and sizes in the future.
The patent also describes the incorporation of enhanced waveguide optics, a custom large field-of-view display engine, as well as a next-gen processor. The resulting glasses may also be able to support either monocular or binocular viewing systems and advanced sensors that underpin Vuzix AR and UI.
These innovations may also help uphold and enhance the ecosystem software involved. It consists of development tools, cloud APIs and (of course) the Vuzix App Store. The OEM has also recently announced that this platform has doubled in size. At present, Vuzix glasses support services, social media sites and even browsers; examples include Netflix, VLC, Vuzix News, Firefox and Facebook Lite.
