'Vista cansada'? Óculos inteligentes podem ser uma nova esperança'Eyestrain'? Smart glasses can be a new hope
A Stanford University researcher, Gordon Wetzstein, is developing smart glasses that will be able to correct the vision of millions of people suffering from presbyopia, also known as 'tired sight'.
This is an age-related problem and, as Wetzstein explains, may be a viable solution. "More than 100 billion people suffer from presbyopia, which has led us to create a pair of auto-focal lenses that could one day correct vision much more effectively than normal glasses," the engineer told Neuroscience News.
For now there is only one prototype of these glasses (with the format of virtual reality glasses) but the idea is that the lenses simulate the behavior of the human lens and focus naturally on the object that the user wants to focus. For now the goal is to improve the format of this technology, with Wetzstein wanting to create light, efficient and stylish models. Miguel Dias
