HUAWEI

Documents point to collusion of Asian giant with Chinese communist regime military forces

Several Huawei officials will have collaborated on research projects with officials from the Chinese Armed Forces, signaling a closer tie between the technology giant and the country's military sector. A new analysis of the Huawei team's curricula revealed deeper links between the technology giant, the country's military sector and China's intelligence forces.
In the document quoted by CNBC, which examines the employment history of the Chinese company's employees, it was concluded that "the middle-level technical personnel employed by Huawei have a solid work history associated with collecting intelligence and military activities." "Some employees may even be tied to specific hacker titles or industrial espionage against Western companies," reads the note.
The study may raise concerns among governments examining claims that Huawei poses a national security risk. Some countries are concerned that the technology giant may install so-called backdoors (methods that facilitate unauthorized access) in its telecommunication network equipment, which would allow the Chinese government to access user data.
In response to the news, Huawei denied any involvement or knowledge of CNBC employees with such links. In the response, Huawei and noted that during the recruitment process does a background check and that only during training is the candidates are taught how to access the network of users and their data.
According to Bloomberg, during the last decade a number of Huawei officials have collaborated with People's Liberation Army agencies on at least 10 research projects on various topics such as artificial intelligence and radio communications.
The projects include a joint effort with the Chinese communist regime to extract and rate comments on online videos and an initiative by the National University of Defense Technology to explore ways to collect and analyze satellite images and geographic coordinates. J. E.
