Pixel 4: Bezels, bezels and more bezels; Pixel 4 to have a sub-80% screen-to-body ratio, triple rear-facing cameras and no notch
The release of the Pixel 4 series is edging ever nearer, so cue yet more leaked renders. This time, OnLeaks has given us a look at the Pixel 4, the design of which has been affirmed by screen protector leaks. You better like bezels.
We may still be a few months from the unveiling of the Pixel 4 series, but that has not stopped OnLeaks from releasing yet more renders. Earlier this month, he gave us a detailed look at the Pixel 4 XL, which he has now followed up with its smaller sibling. According to iGeeksBlog, the website with which OnLeaks partnered for these renders, the Pixel 4 will measure 147.0 x 68.9 x 8.2 mm, with its rear-facing camera housing protruding by around 1.1 mm.
The Pixel 4 will also have a 5.6-inch display, which may result in a sub-80% screen-to-body ratio if Google equips the device with a 1440p panel as it did with the Pixel 3. The next Pixel looks to have a considerably smaller bottom bezel, although the thick top bezel of its predecessor remains. While some people may see the inclusion of the latter as outdated with many OEMs striving for 100% screen-to-body ratios, the volume of hardware that Google has incorporated at the top of the device makes a bezel or notch unavoidable.
Both the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL look set to have dual front-facing cameras, along with an earpiece, a proximity sensor and a mysterious wide pill-shaped aperture. There has been much speculation about what the latter could house, with the consensus currently being a 3D facial authentication system or a Project Soli radar chip, as we discussed in our corresponding Pixel 4 XL article a few weeks ago. The former would negate having an in-screen fingerprint scanner, the inclusion of which has also been speculated
Recent screen protector leaks reaffirm that the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will have wide openings on the right-hand side of their top bezels, although these could be based on incorrect information. Elsewhere, the renders show the Pixel 4 series with Black and White finishes, both of which have colour contrasting power buttons. It is unclear yet whether Google plans to release the Pixel 4 series in just two colours, but a black version is definitely on the way.
