WhatsApp is less secure than you think, say researchers
The use of encryption has made WhatsApp and Telegram two of the most secure messaging apps in the eyes of users, an idea that a report by Symantec researchers has come undone. According to this report, it is within the reach of hackers to use malicious apps to change media files exchanged through these services.
Although the internal media storage is safeguarded from the standpoint of security, the external storage is more exposed. These security researchers say that if the user installs a malicious app previously, it is possible that the hacker can manipulate the file freely. This is even before the file is accessed by the user.
