Identify stray dogs? App recognizes the animal through the muzzle

If you could use an app to recognize a lost pet and find your home? This is what Chinese startup Megvii sets out to do as it has launched a tool that recognizes animals through the pattern of the nose.
To make the process easier, users should collect and insert in-app photos taken from various angles to the pet, according to Canaltech.
Then by pointing the camera at the animal you can find out who it belongs to through a facial recognition system. Because, like humans, dogs have specific muzzle singularities that can be identified by technology.
For now the data point to an efficiency rate of 95%, according to the Brazilian publication, which cites the Chinese website Abacus News. For this reason, this feature may replace chips that are introduced into animals for precisely the same purpose.
In the app it is possible for caregivers to identify themselves, the animals in question and the address. N. M.
