Google Maps will navigate users in emergencies and show details of natural disasters
When Google introduced SOS alerts on Maps, it provided vital information to users caught in the midst of catastrophes and crisis zones. The application will be updated to provide a visual context and include directions to drive users to locations marked as safe. This emergency navigation system will update people about the state of emergencies, modifying the route in real time, if necessary, such as to escape the marked floods along the way.
Google's concern is to provide the most detailed information possible to users, but at the same time simplifying so that it can be digested while driving. Thus, to better understand the scale of natural disasters, the application shows the trail and path of a hurricane's cone, the area affected by an earthquake and flood forecasts. To do this, information is available through cards that fire when they are in their locations.
The Search application will also make this information available if users search for their keywords in the search, considering where they are. Users can still use Google Maps for help. You can alert friends and family about where you are, through their crisis card for 15 minutes or until you decide to stop sharing. You can identify and report blockages on the road through the transit tool, as well as being able to confirm whether or not the marked path is blocked. Finally you can share the state of emergency where you are.
Google reveals that this update will arrive in the coming weeks for Android, iOS and Web. Flood previews will be debuted in the city of Patna, India, and then in the Brahmaputra and Ganges regions. M. F.
