O presidente da Rússia, Vladimir Putin. 06/06/2019. Yuri Kochetkov/Pool via REUTERS5G: Putin tries to clean the scratched image of Huawei

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that US efforts to take Chinese technology giant Huawei off the global market may be a sign that a new technology war is coming.
"Take the situation around the Huawei company, for example. There is no attempt to challenge it, but to push it blatantly out of the global market," Putin told the audience at the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg on Friday.
"In some circles, it's even called the first technology war of the next digital age," he added.
Washington has long criticized Huawei and another Chinese technology company, ZTE, for alleged links with the Chinese government. In May, as the trade war between Washington and Beijing escalated, President Donald Trump's administration blacklisted Huawei, citing concerns over national security.
Putin also explained that attempts to monopolize a new technology wave by some countries make it difficult to solve the problem of global inequality and will lead to destabilization.
Despite repeated denials by Huawei of Washington's allegations, leading global technology companies such as Google, Intel and Qualcomm have begun severing ties with the Chinese company to comply with the US ban. Huawei has filed a motion in a US court to overturn its ban on its products, saying it has been "violated due process".
Washington's crusade against the Chinese company comes as the two largest economies in the world are involved in a trade dispute that has resulted in billions in import tariffs.
The latest upswing has prompted the US to raise tariffs to 25 percent, over $ 200 billion in Chinese products, and China to come back with tariffs of up to 25 percent on 5,000 US products worth $ 60 billion. S. N.
