Brand Announced Their First 240-Hz Display Before PC Gaming Show During E3 2019

We have seen the many games and console announcements since the E3 started. We could not get a good look at the new PC gaming hardware yet. It seems like we would have to wait until PC Gaming show. Samsung had planned to announce its new gaming monitor during the PC Gaming show. According to Tomshardware, the company decided to pull back and announced its new CRG5 curved gaming monitor at a little early. The most likely reason could be the hype the Samsung did not want to have their new gaming monitor overshadowed.

Specifications
The specifications of the gaming monitor are on par with many gaming monitors out there. It boasts a 27-inch 1080p HDR quantum dot display with a 240Hz refresh rate. It is their first 240Hz gaming monitor with a response time of 3ms. The only thing that elevates it among many gaming displays is Samsung's priority Quantum dot display technology. It has enabled them to reach a contrast ratio of 3000: 1 on an LCD panel. On the other hand, the only primary concern regarding the monitor is its peak brightness, which is only 300 nits.

Samsung has put all of their signature picture modes too including an eye savor mode which supposedly protects the viewer's eyes. The connectivity is provided by a single DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 2.0, and a headphone jack. The monitor does not have speakers.

Adaptive sync
If we take a look at Samsung's brief arsenal of gaming monitors, we can only find the Freesync enabled displays. Even the 144Hz variant of the CRG5 is only Freesync enabled. However, Samsung has equipped this version with G-sync technology. It will only be able to smooth out the gameplay if you have an Nvidia Graphis card on board. They may release Freesync variant of the same gaming monitor, but they have not confirmed it yet.
The monitor will be available to purchase via Samsung's website. It will also be available on selected stores in the US. They have not announced the Global availability yet. We expect to arrive in most European markets by Fall. By Mohsin Naeem
