Invisible bombardier launches world's most powerful antibunker bomb
US Air Force publishes video of the exercise of a strategic B-2 Spirit bomber, carried out in early May, which launches two GBU-57 bombs weighing 13 tons each, reports Russkoe Oruzhie.
According to the publication, the GBU-57, also known as the Massive Ordnance Penetrator, is the world's most powerful antibunker bomb and can penetrate 61 meters into the ground and drill up to 19 meters of reinforced reinforced concrete before it explodes.
As the portal indicates, the gruesome American bomb was developed in 2007 to destroy underground uranium enrichment plants in Iran and military installations hidden in the massive rocks of the mountains of North Korea.
In 2011, the US Air Force commissioned the first batch of 20 of these bombs. The Drive agency writes that, in addition to Iran and North Korea, China, which built an underwater base in the middle of a mountain, could also be a potential target of the GBU-57.
Combining the powerful bomb with the B-2's ability to penetrate unnoticed into enemy territory, the US has the ability to reach even the most remote and well-protected targets without resorting to a nuclear strike.
