Huawei tries to explain that he is not a puppet of the Chinese government
In the context of a commercial war and technological rivalry between Beijing and Washington, US President Donald Trump decided last week to ban exports of US technology products to some companies considered "at risk" for national security.
The Huawei conglomerate thus found itself on Washington's blacklist.
"Huawei's 5G will not be affected," Zhengfei said, adding that "in two or three years," other companies will be able to compete with the Chinese giant for the fifth-generation mobile.
Huawei "in discussion" with Google to respond to US interdictions
Huawei is in talks with Google to try to find a solution to the restrictions imposed by the US administration, according to the founder of the Chinese telecommunications giant.
"Google is a good company and highly responsible. Google and Huawei are in the process of trying to find an answer," Ren Zhengfei told reporters at a meeting with local media in Beijing.
At stake is a decision by the US administration that Google and other US companies will no longer supply components, products and services to Huawei.
In response, the American giant, whose Android system manages the vast majority of the world's smartphones, announced on Sunday that it would have to cut off contact with Huawei.
This would result in the Chinese group's inability to access certain Android services and applications such as Gmail and Google Maps.
However, the US government appeared to want to ease the tension with the Chinese by suspending Huawei's sanction on Monday for three months.
The Chinese giant will thus be able to use US software and components before the effective enforcement of sanctions against the group founded by Ren Zhengfei. Miguel Dias
