LinkedIn Allows Setting Instant Job Alerts And Offers Previously Premium Features To Everyone
LinkedIn has been making some very significant and prominent changes to its popular recruitment and professional social platform. The platform is home to more than 600 million members and above 20 million job opportunities. Among the new features include several new jobs and hiring features, including new instant Job Alerts. The Microsoft-owned professional network has also started offering a few features that were previously reserved for premium members.
In an effort to simplify the job hunting process and quicken the process, LinkedIn has made some fundamental changes and improvements. The redesign stemmed from the rapid shift to mobile devices. After noticing more than 50 percent of LinkedIn members were accessing the platform on their smartphones, the website has redesigned the jobs homepage. The redesign now streamlines LinkedIn Jobs into a single search and scrolling model like Facebook's Newsfeed. Needless to say, it makes it easy to find, review and apply for jobs as liking a post. The feed even remembers where the member paused and resumes the feed accordingly.
Job seekers or professionals, who wish to highlight their skills, now have an even better opportunity to do so. The altered LinkedIn platform has allocated special prominence for the skills section. Members can assess, validate, and showcase their skills more effectively. This feature reportedly benefits the recruiters too, as they can quickly sift through shortlist potential candidates. LinkedIn has mentioned the feature is still under development but assured it would be available soon.
Speaking of hiring managers, LinkedIn has effectively collated LinkedIn Jobs, Recruiter, and Pipeline Builder into a single platform. Moreover, recruiters can now post a few important questions to the interested applicants. Questions like 'Are you comfortable with the commute,' or confirming the education level before the applicant confirms his interest should significantly help recruiters.
The most interesting change, however, is the inclusion of instant job alerts. According to LinkedIn, the first 25 applicants usually have excellent prospects of landing the job. Internal research claims these early bird applicants are up to 3X more likely to land the job. The instant job alerts will be emailed to you within minutes when a job that meets your criteria or experience is posted.
Besides these features, LinkedIn has now provided access to 'Salary Insights'. Once restricted to paid or premium members, the feature allows all LinkedIn members to view salaries on LinkedIn Job postings. Essentially, job seekers need not guess the salary or send in their desired salary first. Source: Alap Desai
