Leaknews: Alleged images of the OnePlus 7 Pro
OnePlus was one of the first companies to announce that they are working on a 5G smartphone during Qualcomm Tech Summit. They went on saying that they will be the first company to launch a 5G enabled handset. During the summit, OnePlus CEO told The Verge that 5G smartphones might cost $ 200-300 more compared to standard 4G smartphones. It should be noted that OnePlus is a company that delivers premium smartphones at a non-premium price.
We know the release of OnePlus smartphones, a phone in summer and a better "T version" during fall. This year it can be changed. The reason behind this could be the 5G device they are working on. We have not heard much about the OnePlus 7, except a few renders of the phone design. On the other hand, we have nothing except the potential release date of the 5G enabled device.
A set of images came to surface earlier via Weibo, allegedly showing the new OnePlus 7 Pro model. Oneplus has never used "Pro" with any of their smartphones yet. So, it would be reasonable to guess that OnePus 7 would be the 5G enabled model. The most catchy thing about these images is the design; it is starkly different than what the company is offering since the inception of "all-screen" smartphones. Design
Let's talk about the alleged design of the device first; it has curved edges, just like the premium smartphones from Samsung and Huawei. The curved edges not only minimize the side bezels but also enhances the aesthetics of the device. There is no camera or cut-out on the front which means they will be using pop-up camera mechanism. Combining all that along with the relatively smaller chin-bezel, we are looking at a body to body ratio of more than 95%. Specifications
The second image is also exciting if you look closely. It shows the image of OnePlus6T, but the name of the device is OnePlus 7 pro. The specifications listed, however, do not match the specifications of the OnePlus 6T. It shows 6.77 inches Optical AMOLED display, 8GB RAM, 256GB internal storage, Snapdragon 855 SOC and a triple camera module on the back.
The display and the processor are the only two grounds on which it can be safely said that it is not the OnePlus 6T. On the other hand, a question arises why would they add the image of OnePlus 6T, when the alleged image of OnePlus 7 pro is already available.
Lastly, regarding the availability of the 5G device, OnePlus has said that the device will be announced by the end of May. It can be the first time when OnePlus launches two different smartphones at the same time. Could it be the end of the "T version" and start of the "Pro version"? We do not know yet, but the answer to these questions will be very soon. Sarmad Burki
