Reddit is testing donation system to reward its creators

The Reddit social platform is a place where users share knowledge, make informed comments, and in the background help clarify doubts of the most varied themes. If you have doubts about something, most likely someone already had them too and will have put on the platform, with the community certainly contributing to the solution.
One of the problems to deal with a community as large as Reddit, which has more than 250 million users, is the amount of spam that certain topics generate, and so a system of upvotes and downvotes has been created, which is basically the way members express themselves whether they like the answer or not. The algorithm works to highlight or keep in sight the most positive messages, and hide clearly, those with negative community reaction.
Although there is already a kind of coin in the community, gold and silver, to remunerate the most prominent users virtually, the platform is testing a system to convert the upvotes into real money. The system is being tested only with the user Shittymorph, one of the most known of Reddit, through a system of donations, as indeed already exists in other social networks like YouTube and Twitch.
This user's messages now have a donation mechanic, with a window suggesting donations ranging from $ 3 to $ 10, although users can choose any amount. According to CNet, the fields for inserting credit card data are still available in the same window.
In the thank-you message for being chosen to test the functionality, the user had already raised $ 81. Those responsible for Reddit explain that the user receives 78.5% of the donation revenue, the platform gets 18.5% and 3% goes to Stripe, the banking operator that manages the service.
The future plans are not yet known, and whether the tests will be consolidated for all users, or just some of the platform's most relevant content creators. Mundophone
