MICROSOFT

A silenciosa sala da Microsoft onde se pode ouvir o coração a baterThe silent company room where you can hear the heart beat

The sound dies in the anechoic chamber at Microsoft headquarters in Redmont, Wash. Since 2015 this is considered the quietest room in the world, something that appears in the Guinness Book of Records. The sound from the outside does not come in and even the sound inside is very low, not to mention the absence of echo, as CNN reports.
The construction of this room cost 1.5 million dollars (about 1.3 million euros). It was built in six layers of concrete and steel. It is lined with fiberglass inside that breaks the sound waves.
"The design, planning and construction took a little over a year and a half," said Hundraj Gopal, a scientist and the lead author of the anechoic chamber project at Microsoft.
The technologist uses this room to test audio equipment such as microphones or headphones and products such as mice or keyboards, in order to analyze the sounds or noises they emit. Products such as the Surface, the Microsoft tablet, or Xbox have already benefited from the benefits of this room.
If you stay long enough in the room you can hear the heart beating, for example. The problem is to stay in the room a lot. "The longest period of time someone has been in the room is about 55 minutes. I've noticed that some people can stay in there in 30 minutes or so. But others asked to leave in the first few seconds, "says Hundraj Gopal.
