New documents prove irregularities of Asian giant
The US continues to investigate Huawei's CFO, Meng Wanzhou (pictured above), who was detained later this year in Canada over accusations of violating sanctions against Iran and, according to Reuters news, the case may be more difficult for the one who is also the daughter of the founder of the Chinese technological, Ren Zhengfei.
The case against Wanzhou is based on Huawei's relationship with two companies Skycom Tech Co Ltd and Canicula Holdings Ltd, which operates in Iran and is registered in Mauritius (respectively). According to documents the US publication had access to, Huawei appears to have a closer relationship with these companies than was originally envisaged.
A senior Huawei executive appears to have been appointed as Skycom's manager, holding the company's banking rights in Iran. Likewise, Huawei will also have conducted operations in Syria through Canicula. This is when, according to Wanzhou, all connections between Huawei and Skycom were cut off in 2009.
Meng Wanzhou was released on bail amounting to $ 6.5 million on Dec. 11, and is now at her home in Vancouver without a passport, with constant security, and even a GPS locator at her ankle while waiting to know whether she will be extradited to the USA. Miguel Dias
