TESLA

Tesla solar shingles

About two years ago Tesla unveiled its solar shingles. It was the year 2016, when the company of Musk promised mass production of its solar shingles for the year 2018. It turns out we are at the end of the year 2018, and no Tesla solar shingles.
They were presented in 2016, began to accept reservations from May 2017, and in November 2018 was when it became possible to book Tesla solar tiles in Spain! Remember that in the first few months of the reservation, Tesla did not let orders flow, and quickly announced that it had cut in production until 2018 (this is always in the American market).
Recently, during the presentation of the results of the company, where dividends were still split with associates, Musk said that the large-scale production of Tesla solar tiles will begin at full steam during the year 2019!
Musk told the shareholders: "I want to talk about solar shingles. We will begin mass production in the coming year. We will start a very long investment cycle because it is a roof that will last for 30 years. So we have to have the maximum lifetime of the tests, yet a minimum time is required for these tests. In addition to a lot of engineering behind it is dedicated to know how to put solar tiles on the roof without giving much work ".
What we can take away from these words of Musk is that Tesla is still looking for the final result, and what they have at the moment is only a product in beta, still little tested and without great guarantees!
Solar roof tiles will be manufactured in GigaFactory 2
Recently it was shared on Tesla's social networks, a video that shows the exterior and interior of Gigafactory 2, a space that was from SolarCity, a company absorbed by Tesla, and where the production of solar tiles will be made, along with Panasonic!
There was agreement between Panasonic and Tesla, for the first to produce solar cells, for the second to incorporate them in their solar shingles. It will also be in the Giga factory 2 that the Tesla photovoltaic panels will be manufactured.
Between Tesla and Panasonic will be more than 800 employees at the factory, and in the coming months the goal is to hire more employees to meet the increased production.
In any case, the images show movements inside the factory, but also gives the impression that it is a much more manual and less automated work. It's like they're back in prototypes and not mass-producing them. Bateria PowerWall Tesla Tesla's first solar-powered homes
But it was already possible to see the first houses with Tesla solar tiles installed. From what you can see, these include a Powerwall 2, as well as having electric cars in the garage.
Basically they serve to demonstrate the idea that the Californian company has for the houses of the future, all renewable energy. And the truth is that the few houses installed with these solar tiles, are employees of the company. Idealized example house-Musk idealizes that all the houses have a solar installation of 9.85kW of power, composed by solar tiles of the textured type. In spite of being an expensive product, it should be remembered that according to the company, a roof with these characteristics will be even cheaper than a conventional one throughout its useful life, and also taking into account the savings generated with the electricity produced.
Do not forget that Tesla solar shingles come with a guarantee of electricity production of at least 30 years, not to mention that the roof is destined to last a lifetime!

In conclusion ... once again Tesla has delayed plans, nothing new for this company. Still, we hope that these delays will serve to launch a flawless product, and that in 2019 leave the much talked about solar tiles Tesla, and soon reach Europe!
