TESLA
Model X: A 'giant' silent and (very) fast
There are few things that equate to the tranquility and serenity that is driving a Tesla. If this was evident with the Model S, it is impressive to note that 'feeling' is maintained in the giant SUV that is the Model X. From the size of the rims, through the length and width of the car, Model X gives in the sights and can be a real driving nightmare in the tight streets.
Neither the Falcon rear doors help soften the colossal appearance of the Model X. It will be enough to open them for the first time to have doubts if you chose the right car. Even those who own a garage may want to think twice and make sure they have enough space to accommodate this Tesla model. But it's good to reinforce: It's truly amazing to note that a car as big as Model X can be driven in such a nice way.
The fact that the Model X is a big car is not a negative point. However, compared to Model S - sleeker and sleeker - it looks like Model X has not gotten so much attention. It looks like a Model S more 'bloated' without the respective elegance. The design will surely have its fans but the idea that could have been done more with the Model X. The exterior size of the Model X has the advantage of having an extremely spacious interior, which makes larger trips more enjoyable. Whether in the driver's seat or in the rear seats, everyone has room to be comfortable within this Tesla. The material used, although not worthy of great distinction, is functional and can withstand heat well.
But the detail that remains in the memory of this Model X is even the front windshield, which extends up to almost a quarter of the ceiling to give a view that is worth to be admired (carefully) by the driver. As we drove through Monsaraz we passed through a period of rain and we could admire the drops to go through all the glass in an effect that until today misses. This tranquility of the interior is aided by the silent electric motor which, in contrast, reveals an ever-surprising power.Being at the wheel of an SUV like this Model X and going from 0 to 100km / h in less than three seconds has both terrifying and stimulating. The calm is slightly lost and gives way to caution with the brakes, too soft to give confidence without a prolonged experience.
VIP experience?
One of the recurring criticisms of electric cars is the autonomy and time it takes to recharge the car. With the autonomy of this Tesla Model X you will not always have to think about recharging it, but when you have to do it, chances are you'll have an experience.
During our trip we had the opportunity to recharge the Model X at the Supercharger station in Montemor-o-Novo, thus having the lowest recharge time possible. We were almost 30 minutes away at this point, enough time to rest by the vineyards of L'and Vineyards and enjoy the view and the silence that was felt.
It is during this period that you will want to enjoy the giant 17-inch touch screen. The interface, strangely early, is quickly accessible and will soon connect to Spotify or even discover the many secrets hidden in the car. You can even use the control panel as your own painting canvas and submit your 'works of art' to Tesla.
The good condition of the loaders testifies to the care of the Tesla drivers and the attention that the brand gives them, even in a situation that would cause most drivers to go into a state of fury. After all, who likes to be waiting at a gas station? With Tesla we had a markedly different experience and one that neither causes repeat disorder. Open path to Model 3
At this point, had the opportunity to experience both Model S and Model X, models with a markedly different positioning than the Model 3. The latest car of the brand led by Elon Musk has arrived in Portugal and the first deliveries are planned for early 2019. Miguel Dias
