Get Your First Look At Chromium As Microsoft Opens Registration For Beta Users
Microsoft had recently announced that it is bringing Chromium to Microsoft Edge. Microsoft aims to replace the rendering engine of the Edge browser from EdgeHTML to Google’s open source version of Google Chrome, Chromium. The Edge browser was used by a limited number of users ever since launch. It seems like Microsoft wants to fix the “browser to download Chrome” reputation of Edge. Today, Microsoft announced that it is signing up beta testers.
As MS Power User reports, the testing is not associated with Windows Insider Program, so anyone can go ahead an signup. An engine change requires significant testing, and Microsoft aims to do the same in the beta phase. The signup form can be found at Microsoft Edge Insider here

Edge And Chromium – What the collaboration actually means
Microsoft’s decision to switch to Chromium engine will benefit Edge in a lot of ways. First, web developers will have one less rendering engine to worry about. Only Safari and Firefox will be the major browsers left which don’t use Chromium. On top of that, it’ll give Edge access to a load of Google Chrome extensions. If Edge brings Chrome’s features to users, users will have lesser reasons to download Chrome. Microsoft will also be extending the latest Edge to Windows 7 & 8, and MacOS. With Microsoft “looking to become a significant contributor to the Chromium project”, we might see better integration of Microsoft products into Chrome as well. Md Armughanuddin
