The best smartphone of 2018

2018 is nearing its end, and, once again, it is time to take stock. In Hipertextual we start our review to the last technological course with the selection of best smartphones of 2018; some recognitions that, after the great announcements and movements lived in the last year, have been extremely hard.
An excellent camera, the best construction in the industry, the most powerful processor of its generation, the fastest and most stable iOS version of the last years ... Both the iPhone XS and XS Max have a wide repertoire of arguments that justify and praise its coronation as the best smartphones of the year.
Competition phones are approaching - and even come to beat - the new iPhone in very particular aspects, but if we evaluate each parameter (photography, aesthetics, biometrics, autonomy, etc.) and we make a middle note based on them, the Apple's smartphone gets, as in previous years, the highest score. No one offers such a rich, homogenous and solid experience as the iPhone.
Google's Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL shine in photography, autonomy, security, speed and, this year, in construction and screen. The bad feelings of its predecessor have been eclipsed with this new product. And, despite its relative conservatism, is the mirror in which the rest of Android smartphone manufacturers can - and should - look at.
There is no doubt: the most satisfactory and complete experience (on Android) is offered by both the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL.
-iPhone XR. The "alternative" iPhone from Apple is probably the most attractive iPhone in its entire portfolio. It shares almost all the differential elements of the iPhone XS, the most advanced model, but it is marketed at a significantly lower price (between 200 and 300 dollars / euros less). A real wonder.
-OnePlus 6T. The OnePlus 6T is simply the best value phone of the year. For less than $ 600 / euro, the Chinese manufacturer delivers an experience that is very close - and even superior in some respects - to products such as the Pixel 3 XL, Huawei Mate 20 Pro or Galaxy Note 9. In addition, the company is expanding its presence in markets such as Spanish, which facilitates their acquisition in physical stores and after-sales service.
-Xiaomi Mi A2. The Xiaomi Mi A1 marveled at half the world with its excellent performance, but its predecessor, the Mi A2, has taken that bar to an even higher point. There is no better phone for less than 300 dollars / euros. Android One, an excellent camera and perfect performance. What more could you want? H. T.
