Smart Shoes: Brand prepares wearables to wear
LG believes that in the wearables market, feet are the segment that follows. Based on a patent registered by the South Korean company, it is possible to see that the brand is developing a pair of smart shoes, which not only work as activity log, but also integrate a feature that is particularly interesting and different from what we are accustomed to seeing products that currently populate the shelves of electronics stores. According to the document, this footwear has the ability to reduce the sound of steps.
Even when it comes to its functionality as a fitness monitor, this wearable does not seem to fit into the conventional department. Instead of measuring and analyzing the general data that are generated with its use, this pair of sneakers aims to cover all health-related numbers, which can be gauged by "pliable" sensors. The cadence of the steps, the distance of each step and the aerobic capacity of the body are only three of the proposals.
Additionally, it is expected that this pair of sneakers will be able to measure the pressure imposed by the user on each part of the foot, so that suggestions are then given so that it can improve their posture. Articulated with LG's AI, it is even possible that the technology creates an alert system, so that users can know that the way they walk can lead to health complications even before they happen.
By 2019, brands operating in the wearables market are expected to sell 19.91 million units of smart clothing. Analysts expect this segment to grow 22.84% next year.
More importantly, this patent has not yet materialized into a marketable product. LG has never made any official public mention of the product and it is even possible that it will never get to know the light of day. However, the patent is a sign that the company is working on innovative products capable of giving the "wearable" gadget market a new dimension. Sapo
