Turtle.Audio online synthesizer teaches programming through music
For more than 50 years children have learned to program with the Logo tool, which consists of making a turtle move through commands, drawing images that make the process simpler. Now it is possible to learn to compose music through a sequencer, via browser, inspired by the notions of Logo with painting mechanics. The project was created over two years by computer engineer Kyle Stetz.Turtle.audio aims to teach programming, so you'll need to read the tutorials to perform some features, but you can easily create some soundtracks by painting marbles in the sequencer's path.
Users will have to program the path of the turtle so that it circulates, creating sounds in its passage through the marked balls. The different colors correspond to different sounds, which can be interleaved for different variations and rhythms. You can even draw different paths and have several turtles to move simultaneously for more complete melodies. By moving the speed and other filters of the system may have different melodic variations.
