Trump government plays hard against Chinese spy
The US government has already argued that Chinese equipment Huawei is a security risk, says the Wall Street Journal and so has advanced with financial incentives for countries that avoid using the hardware. This is yet another episode in the "technological war" between the United States and China, which could spread to the allies of the nation governed by Donald Trump. The paper's sources reveal that US officials have already held meetings with Germany, Italy and Japan, urging other countries to avoid the equipment of the Chinese giant. Previously, the government had banned the use of smartphones between members of the executive and employees, and prohibited the sale of equipment in retail stores at military bases around the world.Despite the fear that the manufacturer's equipment could be used in hacking attempts, Huawei has already made clear that it operates independently of the Chinese government. Still, an American senator accuses the maker of being one of the arms of the Chinese regime. Huawei has opened a center in the UK to check for possible security breaches, though it has been questioned about its effectiveness. According to The Verge, another center was opened in Germany later this month.Huawei has spoken out against the Wall Street Journal article, saying she is surprised and worried about the effects it might have on influencing the US allies. "If the behavior of a government extends beyond its jurisdiction, this activity should not be encouraged," is referred to in The Verge. The blockade of the technology developed in China has also affected ZTE who was fined for breaking the blockade of selling products to Iran and North Korea.
