Samsung loses ground for Huawei and Xiaomi

IDC unveiled the top five smartphone makers with the highest number of sales, with Samsung again at the top, although in a more fragile position than in the past.
In the last quarter Samsung managed to sell 72.2 million smartphones worldwide, a number that represents a fall of 13.4% over the same period last year.
Huawei has sold 52 million units, which represents a jump of 32.9%.
Apple is in third place with 46.9 million units sold, remaining virtually unchanged from the third quarter of last year with a growth of 0.5%.
Next is Xiaomi, with a total of 34.3 million smartphones sold worldwide and a growth over last year of 21.2%. Oppo closes this 'top 5' with sales of 29.9 million units and a reduction of 2.1%.
