Bill gates pronounces on the death of one of his best friends
Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft, died on Monday at age 65 after facing a long battle with cancer. In a statement to the press on Tuesday (16), Bill Gates lamented the death of his friend who helped him create the world's largest software company.Read the executive's complete statement below:"I am heartfelt at the death of one of my oldest and dearest friends, Paul Allen." From our days at Lakeside School and our partnership in creating Microsoft to some of our philanthropic projects over the years Paul was a great partner and a dear friend. Personal computing would not have existed had it not been for him.But Paul was not content to create just one company. He channeled his intellect and compassion into a second act focused on improving people's lives and empowering communities in Seattle and around the world. He always said that if we have the potential to do good, then we should do it. This is the kind of person he was.Paul loved life and those around him, and we all love him in return. He deserved much more time, but his contributions to the world of technology and philanthropy will live forever in the coming generations. I'm going to miss him so much. "Paul Allen suffered from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, cancer of the lymph nodes, and was diagnosed for the first time in 2009.
