Start-up predicts to launch up to 2025 hybrid-electric personal aircraft
The executive director of the company, Seyed Mohseni, spoke to Lusa on the sidelines of a meeting held at the Center for Product Engineering and Development (CEiiA) on the theme "Urban Air Mobility - UAM".The event, held in the context of the European Association of Aeronautical Research Centers (EREA), brings together from Thursday to today young researchers from the 15 largest European research centers.According to Seyed Mohseni, one of the main challenges in the area of aeronautics is "time", a matter for which he believes he has found a solution with the hybrid-electric airplane."Today, a trip from London to Oporto takes about five and a half hours, and from these five hours, half are spent traveling to the airport, which will allow the trip to take only two and a half hours," he said.During the presentation, Seyed Mohseni also released a video that illustrated the interior of the aircraft, with a capacity of ten people, the altitude it could reach and the individual airstrips. At a meeting that addressed the "major challenges" facing the aeronautics industry, the executive director pointed to the issue of certifications, alerting the European Commission to "the benefit of large companies for the benefit of the small."For Tiago Rebelo, responsible for the production engineering for the oceans, aeronautics and space of the CEiiA, this meeting "serves to show the will of Portugal to participate in new initiatives" and thus "put the national flag" in European projects, positioning the country "at the forefront".The event was also attended by Pablo Perez Illana, representative of the European Commission, who during his presentation addressed the new project for the aeronautics area, Horizon Europe Program. The Urban Air Mobility-UAM, which began on Thursday and ends today at CEiiA in Oporto, is the first event in the context of EREA that brings together young European researchers and promotes debate on urban air mobility issues .
