Research reveals that Instagram has suggested pedophilia videos
An investigation carried out by Business Insider reveals that the algorithm of the Instagram app dedicated to the video format, IGTV, showed users videos of pedophilia and digital mutilation. The US publication monitored IGTV for a total of three weeks, with the social network taking five days to remove them.According to the US publication, the IGTV was monitored in two different ways: through a personal account and an account configured as if it belonged to a child with a minimum age of 13 years. During the days that the app was monitored, a video of a child being stripped was suggested to the account set up as belonging to a child. This was just one of the videos found by Business Insider. These videos were reported to Instagram through the tools included in the IGTV but were still active for the next five days. It was only after the communication area of the company was contacted that the videos were deleted but the accounts responsible for the uploading are still active."We are deeply concerned about keeping the entire Instagram - including the IGTV - a safe place for the younger people to approach the people and interests that are close to them," read the statement issued by an Instagram representative. The same representative said that the social network takes "measures to proactively monitor potential violations of community guidelines" and that it has employees "working 24/7 to remove anything that violates them."
