Google's Putin Fear
Russia has issued a warning to Google that it will not interfere with its local elections that will take place next Sunday, Agence France Presse reports. The announcement was made by representatives of the Electoral Commission and the Internet regulator, claiming that opposition leader Alexei Navalny uses the services of Mountain View technology to disseminate illegal information."Navalny buys advertising tools from the company to publish information on YouTube about the big political event on September 9, on Election Day. We have informed Google that such election day events will lead to a massive violation of the law. It is not allowed to interfere with a foreign company in our elections, "a statement from one of the members of the Central Electoral Commission, Alexander Klyukin, says.Klyukin also notes that the notice was sent via a letter to Larry Page, CEO of Google's parent company, Alphabet. The problem of Russian officials seems to fall more on YouTube, which is considered a tool of "propaganda for antisocial behavior."
