Brand model combines fitness features in a smartwatch of only 40 grams

If you followed the arrival of smart watches, you certainly had some kind of contact with (even if only readings on) smart wristbands and other fitness crawlers on the market. Fitbit, for example, has gained ground as one of these players, especially after the purchase of the (late) Pebble.The Fitbit Versa smart watch is one of the coolest models today, and in the second quarter of 2018 model sales surpassed those of Samsung and Garmin, even combined.Currently, Versa costs $ 199 on the company's official website for the common version, which is the one we reviewed here. There is, however, a special version that counts on NFC and support to Fitbit Pay, besides bringing a different bracelet (along with the traditional one) for $ 229.

Design and display
When choosing a smart watch for the first or second time, several points need to be understood before making a decision. This takes into account that a device of the type usually has no estimated life span of 12 months between one generation and another. But the money invested must also be controlled.The Versa is a smart watch model that can suit a large number of people. First because it can do the monitoring of activities even underwater; second because it is comfortable and its discreet design does not detract from the important information that is on the screen.Created with an anodized aluminum case, the Versa is one of the lightest products of its kind. They are about 37 grams already with the bracelet, or about 23 grams only from the box. In time, his bracelets follow the standard pattern (and are made of silicone), so it's not difficult to make the replacement.

Another important point in the design of the Versa is its "square" face, but with rounded corners. Believe me, the watch fits very well on the wrist and does not bother you as you use it all day long.Being this one of the simplest (aesthetically speaking) smart watches of Fitbit, we will understand this as a positive point. Versa can still dive to a depth of up to 50 meters, but also tracks and tracks your water activities. We must remember, however, that it is not recommended to swim with him on the beach.Overall, the front of the watch has only the glass (rounded at the corners), the Fitbit logo very discreet at the bottom and a light sensor. The first of the buttons comes pre-set to start the Exercises app, and the second starts the Alarms app.On the other side, there is only a single button, which is the main one (to return menus, turn the screen on / off). By pressing and holding it briefly, you open another quick menu to turn notifications on or off, choose the method to connect to it, and then control the songs.The 1.34-inch, square-format LCD display adopts the resolution of 300 x 300 pixels. It has vibrant colors, is responsive to touch and has a brightness of up to 1,000 nits. In short, the visualization is good even in sunlight and we did not have problems in this question, which in parts does not eliminate another question.
Keeping the Versa screen on 100% of the time would require a different type of technology so that your display does not drain all the power. For this reason, the movements with the pulse are valid to show and hide the time. Partially uncomfortable (imagine a crowded bus as an example), you can also touch the display or push the left side main button to do this.Versa software, owner of Fitbit and its version 2.0, does not hide many secrets. The menus are clear, the gestures are simple and the buttons are not complicated. There are features like Run Detect, which detects when you needed to take that break after running forever. The same happens in swimming or while you pedal.This tracking of your movement status is seen accurately when you finally get home every night and will take a nap. Considering inactivity and decreasing heart rate, for example, it can easily measure and record sleep data.For those looking for a good device to accompany physical activities, there are interesting options; you can track and trace the following activities:
-Running;
-Cycling;
-Swimming;
-Running machine;
-Weightlifting (BPM);
-Repeats with intervals (timer);
-Training (BPM).
At the end of the exercises (and also on the "Today" tab, sliding from bottom to top), you will see a summary with information such as the maximum heart rate in beats per minute (BPM), but also the average heart rate during exercise in yes, in addition to data such as distance traveled and a training progress bar.You might miss an integrated GPS system, something you would only be able to control with your smartphone in your pocket.Another two points that need to be commented here are the applications and watchfaces. The App Gallery app store is still very "lean" and, in fact, has few options. On the other hand, the dials are in great quantity, but they are not so simple.The vast majority of watchfaces do not look nice, although there are dozens of others that are very functional and bring clear information. However, you need to choose only one at a time, and without the possibility, until then, of favoring your favorites.Other features like finding your smartphone are not around here. But the worst experience, even, was trying to sync songs with it. Firstly because Deezer is the only application supported and not everyone uses Deezer; then because the pairing is complicated and full of steps. Anyway, it's easier to get out to run by listening to your own footsteps.
Still in time, the clock has 2.5GB of storage, and another option limiter is the fact of syncing only playlists.
The way notifications are displayed is pretty cool, especially with Gmail. For text messages or apps like WhatsApp, however, especially speaking of the second option, things are not as simple as there is no system for preprogramming quick responses.
But even on the notifications, the Versa's vibration response proved to be versatile, not cumbersome and diverse, so here's the plus point of the clock.

Connectivity and battery
The watch itself saves in your memory details of the last 30 days of use, which data is shared with your Fitbit account. This, however, is the cool part of it: if you switch smartphones, just download the app (compatible with Android and iOS), log in to your account and continue using.
With its devices, Versa connects via Bluetooth 4.0 and loads Wi-Fi (n) connection. The device also has accelerometer (3 axes) and gyroscope (3 axes), altimeter and SpO2, in addition to the traditional light and vibration. It also features NFC for Fitbit Pay, although it is a feature only special edition.
Fitbit ensures that Versa stays on for 4 days in use, although this is very subjective. It was then that we decided to split the test into two parts: the first using connectivity features all the time and doing the exercise monitoring; and the second just monitoring simpler things.Our result for the first option was exactly 4 days of autonomy with Bluetooth switched on all the time. In the second step, however, the results were better. The Versa has an average of 7 days, sometimes reaching the eighth day in use. But this of course considering the tracking of steps and monitoring of sleep, and without the Bluetooth connected.
In this case, the Fitbit Versa has managed to win the adoption of those who are looking for a smart watch with a discrete, yet beautiful, and with important resources. The recharge time is approximately 2 hours (with a proprietary connector), but when converted to practically 170 hours of use, it shows an arbitrary quality of the same.
And we say "arbitrary quality" taking into consideration other models with estimated duration of 20+ days.

Fitbit Versa

The thing is, the Fibit Versa is, in fact, a really cool smart watch.
But there are still some points that bother the product:
No built-in GPS;
Transferring music is complicated;
Limited number of applications.
On the other hand, here are some good points of Versa:
Beautiful, lightweight and comfortable design;
Bright display;
Protection against water up to 50 meters.
