Your WhatsApp conversations can be stolen. Here's how to prevent
If you think that WhatsApp's encryption means that the app stores your messages securely then you could not be more wrong. Even though the messages are exchanged in the application, the Android version actually stores the conversations in the Google Drive cloud service, which is not encrypted.
As Mirror notes, this makes conversations stored in Drive more vulnerable and can be stolen and read by hackers. The fact that messages are not 100% secure in Google Drive is something that WhatsApp itself has taken care of, but fortunately there is a way to prevent storage from being made to this service.
To do so, simply go to your account in the upper right corner, go to 'Conversations' and go to 'Backup'. Once here, you should go to 'Copy in Google Drive' and choose the 'Never' option.
